Studying abroad: How can my parents or guardians send me money?

In addition to tuition fees, as a candidate or student studying abroad, you will have to pay for accommodation, meals and other expenses. To make it easier for you to manage your expenses, the Exchange Office has put in place a number of measures enabling you to benefit from a monthly allowance that will meet all your needs.

Here are the two situations in which you can benefit:

Your parents or guardians can pay your tuition fees up to the amount indicated on the invoice issued by the foreign educational establishment or an intermediary organization mandated by the educational establishment where you wish to pursue your studies. To benefit from these advantages, you need to submit your "study abroad" file to the bank, which will carry out all tuition fee transfers on your behalf.

For Moroccan students pursuing their academic cursus abroad, expenses including tuition fees, living expenses, rents and related charges can be transferred from Morocco throughout the duration of their studies. The Office des Changes even allows you to benefit from an additional year for these transfers after the end of your studies, if you so choose.

Payments for residence, rent and tuition fees can be made by the bank to which you have deposited your "study abroad" application, in the form of transfers or checks in foreign currency. This bank can transfer tuition fees to your student account, to the foreign educational institution or to an intermediary organization mandated by the educational institution. It can also transfer residence and rental fees to your student account, or load the appropriate amounts onto an international payment card.

A domiciliary bank for your " studying abroad " file is a bank with which you deposit your student or " studying abroad " file. This bank will be responsible for all payments relating to your residence, rent and tuition fees.

To do so, for each academic year, you must submit a copy of your registration or pre-registration certificate for the current year, within a maximum of 4 months from the date of the first payment for expenses relating to your study-abroad trip.

You must also submit the following documents before any expenses are incurred for your stay abroad:

  • Certificate of registration or pre-registration issued by a foreign educational establishment;
  • Diploma or certificate of completion, for transfers in the year following termination of studies;
  • A document or certificate issued by an educational establishment, a consulate or embassy of the host country in Morocco, or any other competent authority, showing the amount of residence fees required.
  • A copy of the lease contract, in the name of the student or tutor in the case of under-age students, or an attestation from the residential establishment or any document in lieu thereof, duly drawn up and signed by the parties concerned, showing the amount due;
  • A certificate from the foreign landlord or a lease contract requiring advance payment of rent;
  • A valid residence permit;
  • An invoice from the foreign educational institution or an intermediary organization mandated by the educational institution.
